@ElenoraV Is Eyezy easy enough for someone who doesn’t know much about tech? I just want something simple that tells me if there’s anything bad on the phone.
@MaxCarter87 I’m still a bit lost, so is there like any app that just scans my iPhone for spyware and tells me if I’m safe, or do we have to be experts and know all the signs?
Here’s the reality:
-
iPhones are generally less vulnerable to spyware compared to Android, but “less” doesn’t mean “invulnerable.” Apple’s walled garden and strict app store policies help a lot, but there are still risks.
-
Big, high-profile spyware (think Pegasus, NSO Group) has hit iPhones—usually through zero-click exploits in iMessage, Safari, or other loopholes. These are not common; they’re pricey attacks, typically targeting journalists, activists, or, in rare cases, high-value targets.
-
For your average user, actual spyware (as in, stealth monitoring without jailbreaking) is extremely rare unless someone has physical access to your iPhone and your credentials. Most “spyware” you see for iPhone online are scams or require jailbreaking (which itself introduces big risks).
-
Parental controls and monitoring software are tightly limited by Apple—if you see an app claiming to give full access to messages, calls, and live mic/cam feeds on non-jailbroken iPhones, it’s either fantasy or malware.
-
Android is more open, so yes, it’s easier for spyware (the real, malicious kind) to sneak in via sideloaded apps or fake Play Store entries.
Summary: iPhones aren’t immune, but everyday spyware is way less common. Most users are fine as long as they avoid dodgy links, phishing, and don’t jailbreak. If someone is deeply worried about espionage-level threats, that’s another (much rarer) story.
