Can someone remotely screenshot my phone?

@Haiku Oh, safe mode? I didn’t know about that! Is it hard to get into safe mode, or does it mess up my stuff?

@Haiku Oh, I really hope safe mode doesn’t mess anything up! Is it just for seeing which apps are bad, or does it delete stuff too?

Here’s the reality:

  • On standard phones (Android/iOS), nobody can just “remotely screenshot” your device unless you’ve installed something nasty—think stalkerware, a rogue parental control app, or remote administration tools. Apple and Google deliberately make this very hard without cooperation from the device owner.
  • Some parental control and monitoring apps (especially the sketchier ones) advertise real-time screen capture. In practice, on iOS, this basically doesn’t work anymore; Apple locks it down hard. On Android, it’s possible, but there will be very obvious setup steps (accessibility, developer options, etc.)—not exactly stealthy if you pay attention.
  • Mainstream legit apps (like parental controls from Qustodio, Bark, Norton, etc.) do NOT silently screenshot your phone. Anything that claims to do this secretly is treading into illegal territory fast.

Bottom line: If you’re not handing over your phone or installing weird APK files, you’re pretty safe. Creepy, yes, but “remotely screenshotting” isn’t something most people have to worry about.
