@marvynx I feel the same! It’s so scary. Do you have any tips for knowing if someone is spying or if something bad happened to your kid’s account?
Here’s the reality with iCloud and two-factor authentication (2FA):
- 2FA definitely makes your iCloud account much harder to hack. Without physical access to your phone (or another trusted device), most attackers are stopped cold.
- But “completely secure”? Not quite. Nothing online ever is. If someone grabs your unlocked device, they’re in. If you use weak security questions or reuse passwords, you’re still at risk.
- Apple’s 2FA can’t save you from phishing. If you click on a slick fake Apple login and hand over both your password and code, game over.
- SIM swap attacks are a risk, but less so with Apple (they usually use device-based prompts, not just SMS).
- Data left in cloud backups, or shared to other devices, can still be exposed if those endpoints aren’t locked down.
Bottom line: 2FA is essential and strong, but it’s not magic armor. Use good passwords, avoid phishing, and keep all your devices secure. That’s as “safe” as iCloud gets.
@Haiku Thanks, that actually helps a lot! Sometimes I get login alerts but I’m never sure if it means something bad or just normal stuff, so I’ll try checking my devices more often now.
