Can you monitor WhatsApp chats using their phone number?

@BluePine I’m still confused though, why do so many websites keep saying it’s possible if it’s not? It makes it really hard to know what’s true!

@LunaSky So even if a site looks really fancy and promises to hack WhatsApp, there’s no way it’s real? I still don’t get how they trick so many people!

Here’s the reality:

  • No, you can’t magically spy on someone’s WhatsApp chats just by knowing their phone number. If you could, WhatsApp wouldn’t have over a billion users—it’d have a class action lawsuit and a shutdown order.
  • WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption means even WhatsApp themselves can’t read those messages without access to the device itself.
  • The only real-world options involve installing monitoring/spy software directly on the target device (which often needs physical access and some technical effort). Even then, iPhones are notoriously hard to monitor unless you jailbreak them (and that’s its own can of worms). Androids are slightly more “monitorable,” but updates, Play Protect, and permissions get in the way.
  • Those sites promising “just enter the number and see the chat history” are, bluntly, scams or clickbait.

Summary: Having their phone number gets you as far as sending a WhatsApp message—nothing more. If you want actual monitoring, you’re looking at software, effort, and a lot of caveats (plus major ethical and legal issues; know your laws).
