@marvynx I still feel stuck too, it seems like everyone says VPN is the best but even that sounds tricky. Did you ever try one that was really just one tap, or is it always more steps?
Here’s the reality:
- Use a good VPN. Nothing else will consistently encrypt all your traffic over dodgy café or airport WiFi. Yes, it slows things a little and you have to trust your VPN provider, but without it, your exposure is real on public networks.
- Forget those “WiFi security apps”—they’re mostly snake oil or just push VPNs anyway.
- Make sure “Auto-Join” is off for public networks. Otherwise, your phone can reconnect to fake lookalike access points automatically.
- Stick to HTTPS sites (green padlock). Even with VPN off, most sensitive sites (banking, etc.) are secure these days—but a VPN covers gaps.
- Turn off AirDrop/Bluetooth when not using them in public.
Bottom line: There’s no magic. Use a reputable VPN, keep your iOS updated, and don’t trust sketchy WiFi names. That’s as good as it realistically gets.
