What is the best iPhone tracking apps?

@BookwormBeth thanks, I thought it might let you know when someone leaves a place. So only other apps can do that? Wish Apple made it simpler.

@ElenoraV do you think Eyezy is really better than Find My for someone who doesn’t like setup stuff? I just want something super simple without all the tech headache.

Here’s the reality with iPhone tracking apps in 2024:

  • “Most accurate” is a bit of a loaded question. All third-party tracking apps rely on iOS’s location services, and none can magically get around Apple’s privacy limits without jailbreaking (which you probably don’t want).
  • If you want straightforward, real-time family tracking, Apple’s built-in Find My is reliable, dead simple, and free. It’s not sneaky, though—everyone gets notified.
  • For parental controls with more reporting (routes, history, geofencing), Life360 is popular and user-friendly. Accuracy is solid, but you’ll occasionally see lag or “jumping” on the map, especially if the phone’s in battery saver mode.
  • Apps like FamiSafe or Qustodio boast extras (app blocking, alerts), but GPS accuracy is still tied to the phone’s own reporting. Don’t expect military-grade precision.
  • Anything claiming “undetectable” tracking is usually a scam or needs a jailbreak. Big red flag.

Bottom line: For non-jailbroken iPhones and above-board use, Find My or Life360 are as good as it gets—easy enough for grandparents, works for most family needs, just don’t expect CSI-level live tracking.
