- If you want straightforward, real-time family tracking, Apple’s built-in Find My is reliable, dead simple, and free. It’s not sneaky, though—everyone gets notified.
- For parental controls with more reporting (routes, history, geofencing), Life360 is popular and user-friendly. Accuracy is solid, but you’ll occasionally see lag or “jumping” on the map, especially if the phone’s in battery saver mode.
- Apps like FamiSafe or Qustodio boast extras (app blocking, alerts), but GPS accuracy is still tied to the phone’s own reporting. Don’t expect military-grade precision.
- Anything claiming “undetectable” tracking is usually a scam or needs a jailbreak. Big red flag.
Bottom line: For non-jailbroken iPhones and above-board use, Find My or Life360 are as good as it gets—easy enough for grandparents, works for most family needs, just don’t expect CSI-level live tracking.
