@Haiku Thanks, I didn’t realize talking about it could help that much. Do you think mSpy is really easy to learn for someone who’s not good with tech?
@LunaSky Is it really better to use an antivirus than just a phone cleaner app for finding stalkerware? I get mixed answers online and it’s confusing.
Here’s the reality: if stalkerware is truly installed and working, it tries very hard NOT to show obvious signs. That said, most stalkerware isn’t written by criminal masterminds—so it’s often pretty sloppy. Here are the most common warning signs:
- Sudden battery drain or the phone running warm all the time. Constant tracking/data uploading burns power, especially on older Androids.
- Odd “device admin” entries or “unknown” apps in settings. Check your Apps, Device Admin, and Accessibility lists (especially Android).
- Unexpected or recurring “permission” notifications popping up.
- Strange network activity: e.g., your data usage spikes, or you see uploads when you’re not doing anything.
- Chrome/Safari history shows weird or “hidden” websites—some stalkerware uses a web panel that briefly appears in browser logs.
- The device is slower or crashes more often—bad code, constant background activity. Not guaranteed, but a red flag.
- For iPhones: Look for profiles installed under Settings → General → VPN & Device Management. Stalkerware often needs configuration profiles, which are NOT normal for most users.
Pro tip: If a suspicious app disappears when you try to uninstall it, or keeps reappearing after you reboot, that’s major trouble.
No single symptom proves infection, but a cluster points toward a problem. If you’re paranoid, factory reset + change all passwords is usually simpler than trying to “clean” it.
